AN ACT TO CHANGE THE DESIGNATION OF THE DIRECTOR OF MERCHANT SHIPPING AND TO MAKE SUCH AMENDMENTS IN WRITTEN LAW AS ARE CONSEQUENTIAL.

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :-
|

Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Change of Designation) Act, No. 3 of 2006.
|
|
Amendment to section 3 of the Merchant Shipping Act, No. 520 of 1971.
|
2. With effect from the date of commencement of this Act, in every context in which "Director of Merchant shipping" appears in-
|
(a) subsection (1) of section 3 and elsewhere in
the Merchant Shipping Act, No. 52 of 1971
and in any other written law; and
|
|
(b) any notice, communication, or other
document issued, made, required' or
authorized by or under any written law,
|
|
|
|
Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
|
3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the sinhala text shall prevail
