AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND ORGANIZATION OF A DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

Short title.
|
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Department of Agriculture Ordinance.
|
|
Interpretation.
|
2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires-
|
|
" agriculture " includes horticulture ;
|
|
" department" means the Department of Agriculture;
|
|
" Director" means the Director of Agriculture.
|
|
Department of Agriculture.
|
3. There shall be a Government department to be styled the Department of Agriculture, with a Director and such other officers as may be duly appointed by Government at such salaries as may from time to time be fixed with the consent of Parliament.

Establishment of one or more Boards of Agriculture.
|
4.
|
(1) The Minister may establish one or more Boards of Agriculture for the purpose of advising the Minister on matters affecting the agricultural industries of Sri Lanka.
|
|
(2) Any board so established shall be constituted in such manner as the Minister may from time to time determine.
