Lanka Law Lawyer Directory

Welcome to Lanka Law and the Lanka Law Lawyer Directory (“Directory”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Directory, website, related services, content, and features operated by Lanka Law (“Lanka Law”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
By accessing or using the Directory, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Directory.
1. Purpose of the Directory
The Lanka Law Lawyer Directory is an online informational platform intended to assist users in identifying and connecting with legal professionals in Sri Lanka. The Directory provides publicly available professional information relating to lawyers and law firms and facilitates the visibility and discovery of legal professionals. Lanka Law does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal services through the Directory, and the use of the Directory does not create any lawyer-client relationship between Lanka Law and any user.
2. No Legal Advice
All information and content available through the Directory are provided solely for general informational purposes. Lanka Law is not a law firm and does not practice law. Lanka Law does not guarantee legal outcomes, endorse specific lawyers unless expressly stated, or provide professional legal advice. Users are responsible for independently verifying the qualifications, licensing, experience, and suitability of any lawyer or law firm before engaging their services. Accessing or using the Directory does not create an attorney-client relationship, fiduciary duty, or professional obligation between Lanka Law and any user.
3. Lawyer Listings and Profiles
Lawyers and law firms may submit and maintain professional profiles within the Directory. By submitting information to the Directory, lawyers and law firms represent and warrant that all submitted information is accurate, current, lawful, and not misleading, and that they are duly authorized and qualified to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. Lanka Law reserves the right to review, edit, reject, suspend, verify, or remove any listing or profile at its sole discretion and without prior notice.
4. User Responsibilities
Users agree to use the Directory only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with applicable laws and professional standards. Users must not misuse the platform by submitting false or defamatory information, impersonating others, interfering with the operation of the Directory, attempting unauthorized access to systems or data, or using automated tools to scrape or extract content without written permission. Users are solely responsible for their communications and interactions with lawyers or law firms listed in the Directory and for any decisions made based on information obtained through the platform.
5. Professional Conduct and Compliance
All lawyers and law firms using the Directory remain solely responsible for complying with applicable laws, regulations, professional conduct rules, ethical obligations, Bar Association requirements, advertising restrictions, and court regulations in Sri Lanka or other relevant jurisdictions. Lanka Law does not assume responsibility for monitoring or enforcing professional compliance obligations of listed legal professionals.
6. Ratings, Reviews, and User Content
Where reviews, comments, ratings, testimonials, or user-generated content features are available, users are solely responsible for the content they submit. All submitted content must be truthful, lawful, respectful, and non-defamatory. Lanka Law reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, moderate, edit, remove, or restrict access to any content that is considered misleading, abusive, unlawful, offensive, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, software, databases, text, graphics, logos, branding, layouts, compilations, and materials forming part of the Directory are owned by or licensed to Lanka Law and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. No material from the Directory may be copied, reproduced, distributed, republished, or commercially exploited without prior written permission from Lanka Law. Lawyers and law firms retain ownership of content submitted by them but grant Lanka Law a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, publish, display, and promote such content in connection with the Directory and related services.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Use of the Directory is also subject to the Lanka Law Privacy Policy. By using the Directory, users acknowledge that information submitted through the platform may be stored, processed, and displayed electronically and may be indexed by search engines. Users should avoid submitting confidential, privileged, or highly sensitive information through public forms or unsecured communication channels.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Directory may contain links to third-party websites, services, advertisements, or external legal resources for convenience and informational purposes. Lanka Law does not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, availability, security, accuracy, or practices of any third-party services or websites. Users access third-party resources entirely at their own risk.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Directory and all related services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Lanka Law does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, or suitability of any listing, profile, content, or service available through the Directory. Lanka Law further disclaims any warranty that the platform will operate continuously, securely, or without interruption or errors.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lanka Law shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to the use of, or inability to use, the Directory, including reliance on information contained in lawyer profiles or listings, disputes between users and legal professionals, business interruption, loss of profits, loss of data, or reputational harm. Users access and use the Directory entirely at their own risk.
12. Indemnity
Users, lawyers, and law firms agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lanka Law, its owners, affiliates, officers, employees, representatives, and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or legal expenses arising from their use of the Directory, violation of these Terms, submitted content, professional misconduct, or disputes involving third parties.
13. Suspension and Termination
Lanka Law reserves the right to suspend, restrict, terminate, or remove access to the Directory or any listing, profile, or content at any time and without notice where it reasonably believes that a user or listed professional has violated these Terms, engaged in unlawful conduct, or acted in a manner harmful to the platform, its users, or the public.
14. Changes to Terms
Lanka Law may revise or update these Terms from time to time. Any updated Terms will become effective immediately upon publication on the website. Continued use of the Directory following the publication of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Directory shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
